This describes the most common usage of our FLIM-FRET setup:

The device does not measure FRET, it rather measures Fluorescent lifetimes.

Fluorescent lifetimes are measured using the frequency-domain LIFA system (Lambert Instruments).

From the measured lifetimes of donor alone (t(d)) or donor in the presence of acceptor(t(da), donor FRET efficiency is estimated as:

%fret=1-(t(da)/ t(d)).
