CHARTER
CHARTER FOR THE USE OF HORTICULTURAL CULTURE SPACES FOR EXPERIMENTATION
TRAINING
• the ‘plant production’ team is the primary authority over all greenhouses and growth chambers
• new users of the greenhouses and growth chambers must be informed by their team leader of this charter, and must be introduced to the ‘plant production’ team, who will then take care of training
• all plant requests must be made on the ‘plantiquette’ interface of the IBMP intranet, and must then be validated by the ‘plant production’ team
• any plant not identified in the ‘plantiquette’ interface will be discarded
• users must wear a lab coat dedicated to the plant growth and work spaces
• horticultural waste is collected in yellow plastic bins for disposal by a specialized company
• plant culture and work areas must be cleaned after each use
EXPERIMENTATION
• unless otherwise requested, the sowing, potting and placing of trays or pots in growth spaces is carried out by the ‘plant production’ team
• before sowing, all seeds must be subjected to a prophylactic antiparasitic treatment by freezing (dry seeds) at -20°C for 24 hours or cleaning with ethanol or chlorine
• the duration of seedling growth in nurseries should not exceed approximately 3 weeks
• photoperiod, light quality and temperature conditions are set by the ‘plant production’ team in accordance with the experimental requirements expressed by the user
• the movement of plant trays from one growth chamber or greenhouse to another may only be carried out by the ‘plant production’ team
• phytosanitary treatments are reported and carried out by the ‘plant production’ team
• a heavily parasitized plant may be placed in quarantine
• the introduction of any outside plants to IBMP growth spaces will be subject to quarantine
• herbicide treatments (Basta) are carried out under a fume hood in the VEGOIA work Room 358
• Seeds drying in inflorescence bags (any plant grown at IBMP) and placed in the VEGOIA drying
Room 359, will be harvested in the VEGOIA drying Room 359 within 2 months after placement
CUSTOM EXPERIMENTATION
- if more customized plant growth is required (non-standard species/conditions), these experimentsmust be discussed with ‘plant production’ team and IBMP technical services in advance, both in
terms of the requested space and technical specificities (temperature and light regimes, etc.).
