What tools to use and for what?

  • The Léon Hirth conference room is equipped for videoconferencing with the use of a camera.
    It can work

    – by a direct connection between two machines without an intermediary: machine A calls machine B using its public IP address, like the telephone
    – using RENAvisio, which allows you to create a scheduled or instantaneous meeting via its web interface. RENAvisio is accessible from the Léon Hirth room (contact the IT department) as well as from users’ personal equipment via the software download (secure renater tool).


  • Rendez-vous (Renater) a secure videoconferencing tool (Janus access) to guarantee the reliability and confidentiality of exchanges.

  • Zoom is accessible to staff of CNRS units, whether or not they are CNRS employees, for exchanges that do not involve sensitive information, particularly of a personal nature.
    From your computer or that of the seminar room, all you have to do is identify yourself via Janus and enter the access code for the meeting (to be found in your emails).
