Washing service
In charge : Michèle Hadji (room 150) and Frédéric Ertzscheid (room 622)
The IBMP has two laundries:
Room 150 for laboratory tableware (room 150)
Room 622 for specific to in vitro cultures table ware (room 622).
▸ Glassware
Pick-up is carried out in laboratories and equipment washed and sterilized in the early morning and afternoon. Before pickup, be sure to rinse the equipment and clear it of various markings.
▸ Autoclaving of spikes
Each team must deposit its tips for sterilization at the basement laundry room and recover them after autoclaving
▸Disposal of solid bacteriological waste
This waste must be packaged in a standard 30x50cm double package bearing the laboratory number and deposited in room 157 (opposite the laundry)from Monday to Thursday evening.
▸Lab coat maintenance and towels
Place linen or gowns in the corresponding basket for washing in room 150.
▸Preparation of culture media (type LB)
The preparation of the environments will be carried out during the week according to the availability of M. Hadji and F. Ertzscheid except for the summer period(July and August)during which this service will not be provided.Use the cards available at the laundry.
▸Autoclaving of culture media
A grouping of autoclaved culture media is essential to limit energy consumption and cope with its increasing cost.
To star an autoclave cycle at the 4th floor laundry room a minimum of 10 bottles is required and these bottles will be deposited before 1pm(so that the autoclave can be stopped at the end of the cycle and does not stay on all night).
As a general rule, the grouping of culture media is done at the laundry room in the basement before 1p.m. This implies that the media bottles are deposited in the usual place at the basement laundry room and are recovered in the same place after autoclaving.
A middle deposit after 1pm will be taken care of the next day. Some media have a low storage stability at room temperature before autoclaving; it is up to the user to store it at 4°C over night and to give it the next day for sterilization.
This energy sobriety also applies to the 1st floor autoclave in room 338 and this autoclave will only be put into service if it is filled to at least 2/3 of its capacity.
▸Continuity of laundry and cell culture
In the absence of laundry personnel, the mode of operation of the autoclave is as follows: Start an autoclave 1 time a day or even 2 depending on the quantity to be sterilized or destroyed. It will be necessary to plan to bring on site(basement,1st floor or 4th floor) the laboratory supply the day before 13h so that it is programmed in the autoclaving cycle of the next day. Once sterilized, the laboratory supply will be taken back to the room where you had deposited it. There will be no “home”delivery.
This mode of operation applies to:
the autoclaving of culture media and dry sterilization in the basement of room No. 150 and the culture block of the 4th room No. 622.
The destruction autoclave in the basement in room n°157
The sterilization autoclave of the 1st floor roomNo. 338
The volunteers in charge of this activity are divided into 3 groups, namely:
Basement room n°150 and n°157
L. Malherbe, F. Ploetze, S. Staerck, Ch. Himber and P.Mercier
1st floor room n°338
H. Meichel, T. Salinas and M.Arrivé
4th floor room n°622
L. Herrgott, MC Criqui, N. Baumberger, E Klein and JM Davière
Laboratory supplier washing
During the absences of the laundry staff, the cleaning of the laboratory supply will be the responsibility of each team. For this, a staff from each team/platform can request to be trained in the use of the laboratory supply washer.
