Arrival of Emmanuel Gaquerel

Emmanuel Gaquerel was recruited on October 1st as Professor of Plant Physiology of the University of Strasbourg. Since this date, Emmanuel is also the leader for the team “Evolution and diversity of plant metabolism”, formerly headed by Danièle Werck.
Emmanuel was previously Independent Group Leader of the Centre for Organismal Studies of the University of Heidelberg and Project Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena (Germany). His research interests span the fields of plant secondary metabolism, chemical ecology and computational developments in the mass-spectrometry metabolomics of plant molecules. Main objective of his research is to investigate basic principles shaping metabolic innovations and how these contribute to plant’s resilience to stresses. A strong focus is placed on deciphering the biochemistry, evolution and mode-of-action of plant specialized metabolites as key defenses to insects.
