IBMP_Cyber World CleanUp Day
Cyber World CleanUp Day is a global event, co-led by two associations, World Cleanup Day – France and the Institut du Numérique Responsable, in order to extend the life of our digital equipment and to reduce our digital-related environmental footprint.
The objective is to raise awareness and take concrete action by encouraging each and every one of us to participate in a “Cyber CleanUp Data” – to clean up data and emails stored on our equipment (computers, servers) and in the clouds.
But why bother with all that? If digital is the source of great progress, its acceleration is worrying for the environment. Digital is responsible for 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions today, and it is estimated that by 2025 this digital pollution will double! FYI 1 email stored for 1 year = 10g of eCO2 whereas a tree stores about 5 kg of CO2 in one year.
This year, the third edition of the CWCUD takes place from March 14 to 19 inclusive, with the ambition of bringing together at least 3.5 million citizens, in thousands of sites throughout France within companies, communities, schools or associations.
To achieve this goal, I have registered the IBMP for the operation and I have chosen THURSDAY MARCH 17, 2022 as the day of action!
If you would like to take part in this great cleanup, nothing could be simpler, register by clicking on the “Participate” button via our Cyber CleanUp page.
On D-day you will be invited to take notes before and after sorting your data, emails, etc. and all you have to do is send me your results. I will then total all the participants’ results and send them to the CWCUD France team.
