Jean-Etienne Bassard back at the IBMP

Jean-Etienne was recruited this year at the CNRS. He has done his PhD with Danièle Werck. During this PhD he focused on the functional study of cytochromes P450 of the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway, and also studied their organization into enzymatic complexes called metabolons. Then, at a postdoctoral position and a teaching assistant position in Birger Møller’s laboratory at the University of Copenhagen, he studied the formation of the Dhurrin metabolon, a molecule of the cyanogenic glucoside class. During his stay in Copenhagen, he also unraveled phenolic biosynthetic pathways.

His current project at IBMP will be to study in more detail the modalities and context that govern the formation of metabolons, their composition and organization, as well as their importance in the regulation and plasticity of plant metabolism. To do this, he will mainly use the P. patens model and the phenylpropanoids pathway.
