Just in time !
before the cold weather, a Thursday in November, Thierry opened the valves and the hot water climbed the floors and warmed up the labs and boxes of the IBMP. Thanks to long-awaited insulation work, the bow window spaces of the east and west facades of the IBMP will be less subject to climatic variations. More pleasant boxes and new window sills already colonized by various plant species, we expected no less at the IBMP !

As of May 2017, a first agreement from the CNRS “Délégation Alsace” was obtained to finance this “general maintenance work”. Forgotten for 3 years, the file comes back to life in July 2020; Hugues Schœnfeld, responsible for the technical and logistics service of the Alsace Delegation, opts for insulation with sprayed polyurethane foam and calls on various companies to build the boxes, manage the impact on false ceilings and carry out the insulation. As for the radiators and the water circuit, it is Thierry who, from August, takes care of their removal, the fitting of the caps and the verification of the tightness. At the end of September the carpentry was late, then closed due to COVID. In mid-October, it was again Thierry who discovered errors in taking the dimension… the boxes are already made… never mind… he therefore advances the radiator pipes… the foam by inflating makes the pipes move and compromises the fittings… the pipes must therefore be fixed before spraying.

Floor by floor, box after box, the supports are installed, the insulation projected, the boxes put in place, the worktops repositioned, the radiators connected, the metallic floors and, just in time before the cold weather, on a Thursday of November …
