Rahim HASSANALY GOULAMHOUSSEN arrived in Pauline Jullien’s team
Rahim Hassanaly-Goulamhoussen joined IBMP on 1st of April 2024, to continue his research project in Pauline Jullien’s team. His research focuses on the functional role of DNA methyltransferases 2 in Arabidopsis thaliana seed development.
Rahim completed his bachelor and master degrees in Plant Genetics, Immunity, and Development at Université Côte d’Azur, and then continued a PhD investigating the involvement of epigenetic mechanisms in the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita. In January 2023, he moved to Switzerland to start his current postdoctoral project in Jullien’s team.
Rahim has always been interested in organisms’ plasticity during development and in response to abiotic/biotic stresses. He contributed to pioneer works on the role of TEs on genome plasticity (10.1111/eva.13246), telomeres structures (10.1038/s41467-024-44914-y), and the role of histone modifications (10.3389/fcell.2021.765690) in M. incognita.
Aside from his scientific background, Rahim has a strong interest in transmitting knowledge to the next generation of scientists. He had the opportunity to teach courses at Université Côte d’Azur and the University of Bern. He also contributed to the Nemedussa project, which aims to promote nematology in sub-Saharan countries.
