Welcome Peter TAYLOR !

Hello all, I’m Peter Taylor and am delighted to be joining you all here at IBMP !

Originally from the U.K., my background is in RNA biology, particularly small non-coding RNA. Much to my chagrin I have worked exclusively in animal models to this point. I completed my PhD at Imperial College London where I investigated how parasitic nematodes manipulate host gene expression via the secretion of small RNA using the unusual parasite T. spiralis as a model. At the end of my doctoral studies I moved to France to complete the writing of my thesis and to escape the London rain and was subsequently was given the opportunity to work under Sébastien Pfeffer at IBMC. During this post-doctoral position I examined the regulation of miRNA processing in Kaposi Sarcoma Herpes Virus infection. I am very excited to expand my horizons and apply my knowledge to a new field as a Research Engineer in the Hammani team.

Outside of the lab I am a keen footballer, despite my creaking joints, and continue to play at the amateur level here in France. I am also a big music fan and even play/record a bit myself. Despite all these external interests 90% of my free time is spent looking after my slightly manic dog, Luna. To be honest I’m quite happy with this arrangement.
